[Machines do not lie]
Posted on March 1st, 2014 at 7:43 am by admin

“Maschinen lügen nicht– Machines do not lie” was the theme of the exhibition Tim Wolff gave today at the Nusser & Baumgart Gallery. Tim’s works within the lines act like words and he puts them together into new constructions and ever new assemblies. It is like he is seeking for the basic language everyone spoke before, before culture was even invented … a long time before, a long time before everything became so complicated … and the machines speak this language today, and they speak it simple, clear and easy. The machines they shout it out at us in a straight way. The machines, they don’t care, they don’t lie. [Thanx for a great evening with a lot of philosophical impulse and thanx for being there with such nice people]

In a hidden room, behind draperies, a massive video-play is waiting for you. You have to watch this clash of commercials and cut-outs, put together into a damn nice screening, absorbing the mind and spilling out a lot of inspiration into the brains of the people consuming it at all times. Five TVs, in a set, producing an atmosphere of confusion and desire. The sound of the thing really got me freaking. You have to feel the basslines and the choreography of the screens together with their own single sounds; it’s mind-blowing … well done Tim! The exhibition will last till the 8th of April. Last Friday, the 17.1.2014, Claudia Macias, Timor Miscevic and myself had the pleasure throwing an exhibition at the Weltraum in Munich. We where completely astonished that so many nice people came along. At this point we would like to shout out a big “thank you all”, especially to Rudi for hosting us. Here we go with some impressions before the thing took place. [Dani Schvarcz took a lot of cool photos during that evening, thank you so much for that. As well our biggest thanx to Claudia Hofmair for additional photos! Here you can find a gallery with a lot of photos from the event on fakebook >>]

It’s getting fresh in Munich, but it is still not a winter yet. So I just remembered that Germs have founded a colony on the island of Samos in Greece a while ago. Documenting the bacteriological branch in Vathy coursed quite some stress. Just by mistake, of course, I had some battleships in the background. And a minute later a car stopped in front of me with screeching tires, a guy with a broken nose inside pointing his finger at me, very angry, almost hateful. Screaming some rough greek at me and my lady. Two police-members arrived and saved me from that shitass. But they made me delete all photos on my camera where the ships were visible. They have been quite nice to me and felt sorry about it. At least they did know how to treat a tourist. Anyway they have never heard about rescue-programs for SD-cards though. Well, this is for the guy who scared the hell out of me: F ⨆ ⊂ K Y ∅ ∪ !

This last Germ was found in the cave of Pythagoras on Mount Kerkis. Some people think that Pythagoras was hiding there because of the tyrant Polycrates, others rather mean he went there for the reason of meditation with his followers.

Ah Venezia! Venice is of course a beautiful city and for people interested in arts it’s a hot and long pavement. The two main-areas (Giardini and Arsenale) of the Biennale are big and not so overcrowded like the small paths (Impossible to walk in that mud Hunter would say) but it is also impossible to see all the Biennale in one day. It’s just too much to experience and some of the things are truly damn nice. Scattered over the city you can also find a lot of other pavilions. Some of them are not easy to find, but exactly that makes it even more charming: getting lost again and again and discovering always new places. Altogether it was a very nice journey. I am sure I will return to check out the rest some day. [Thanx to Ira, Lizzy & Joe to be present]

La Biennale

La Biennale

Don’t worry they are not wasted; it’s a performance by Tino Sehgal [>>] with changing performers. Honestly I heard better beatboxing before and the singing scared the hell out me.

La Biennale

The israeli pavilion showed some nice technocratic tunes on screen and some kind of a horrorshow by Gilad Ratman [>>]. I liked the dark atmosphere in there.

La Biennale

Shinro Ohtake [>>] fills big books with lots of stuff he collects and paints over it. Nice!

La Biennale

Cathy Wilkes [>>]; on the road, installation in The Encyclopedic Palace.

La Biennale

Sarah Sze [>>]: Triple Point in the USA pavilion. Here some strange Foucault pendulum.

La Biennale

Ai Wei Wei [>>]: Everybody already knows his installation in the german pavilion I guess.

La Biennale

The russian pavilion: Part of Vadim Zakharov’s Danaë [>>].

Rave Autonomica

The Club Autonomica events (Facebook-group >>) have become a quite famous thing these times in the Munich clubbing-scene (@Kong >>). Apart from that they are organizing massive rave-partys, openair-style, with various areas. I haven’t been to a proper rave in years. So I was more than thrilled to get the opportunity to join this one. And truly, especially outside in the garden the sound and the whole flair was damn nice. Pretty young but happy people, big beats, Carlsberg and from time to time some drizzling rain. I didn’t now a single name on the line-up, sorry guys, I am out of it since a long time, but I did enjoy the tunes anyway.

Rave Autonomica

Like all good things the Autonomica-Team started in the underground with their urban-art gallery project “Galeria Autonomica” initiated by Christoph Pankowski and Christian Minke. They have been supporting urban- and installation-artists with making exhibitions in untenanted flats or on public space mixing it up with party and music (OFF/ON FORUM >>). For further events you should join their facebook-group >>. As well you can grap a funky fanzine for 2,50 € (Email to thiszinelovesyou@gmail.com; Kleine Schwester Verlag >>) [Thanx to Veronika, Natalie, Christoph, Goran, Dominik and Joe for having a good time! The next rave must come and we will be there!]

Pickled Good Words in Space
Posted on April 27th, 2013 at 1:05 am by admin

Today I had the great pleasure to look at the works of Peter Schaffhauser at Weltraum 26 in Munich. Peter is collecting nostalgic stuff and he puts the things together into new context. As viewer you instantly start puzzling about the meaning. And you will find a lot of those meanings yourself. When I entered at first I thought the titels of the artworks are blank, but it turned out that you can open the little cards displayed next to the pieces, to find truly great conclusions about the things put together. Apart from doing those cool things Peter writes columns for the online-paper agitano [>>]. If you want to look at his works, the exhibition is still on for the whole week. Make an appointment at Weltraum26 [>>] to see all of it. You shouldn’t miss it. [Thanx to Rudi for the invitation and thanx to Peter for the nice works to look at and think about; also thanks to Goran, Jochen, Felix & Bianca, Andi & Angie, that we have met there… I really enjoyed that evening!]

Back in the USA! Germs made a grand tour through the beauty of the Grand Canyon. Hitting from the Rainbow Bridge over the Vermillion Highway to the North and the South Rim. Mostly they occupied rare geological-site-signs. The perfect habitat. [Thanx again to Annöle!]
